Farewell and Open House

Hunter gave his farewell address in our ward on June 29, 2104.  He did a great job!  The highlight of the talk was his inability to button up his suit coat!  In his testimony he declared:

"I know this Gospel is true.  If I did not know that, I would not be leaving on my mission."

He has a very powerful testimony and will be a great blessing to the people of Panama!

Hunter's open house lasted from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM that night.  We didn't get pictures of everyone, but we did get a few.

First Temple Trip

May 23, 2014 Hunter went to the Temple for the first time!  It was an amazing day!  His grandparents joined him along with dear family friends; Kevan and Judy Wheelock, Alisha Gearhart, Josh Ross, and Tom and Terri Stillwaugh.  Being there with him felt so wonderful.  It felt right.

You are hereby called to serve.....

Ever since Hunter was a little boy, he always said he was going to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  It was never a "maybe" or an "if" it was always a "when".

The BIG day came on April 3, 2014.  I was shocked to find his mission call in the mailbox.  We were told that it wasn't assigned and would not becoming for a couple more weeks!!  Hunter had a track meet that night and we quickly started to spread the word that he would open it that night after the race. His youngest sister was having a difficult time waiting!

The time was set for 8:00 PM at our house to open the envelope.  We put up a large map of the world and had everyone who showed up make there guess.  I lost count after over 40 teenagers piled into our home one after another.  It was a great testament to what amazing friends our son has made over the years here in our hometown.  With short notice, they all dropped what they were doing and came to support Hunter.

He leaves on July 9, 2014.
